Domínguez extends contract with Estudiantes until 2027

Buenos Aires, Dec 29 (NA) -- Argentine coach Eduardo Domínguez confirmed this Monday his continuity as head coach of Estudiantes de La Plata until December 2027 after extensive negotiations with Juan Sebastián Verón, the club's president. According to the Argentine News Agency, the 47-year-old coach decided to sign and extend his bond with the 'Pincha' to go for the 2026 Copa Libertadores following recent wins in the Torneo Clausura over Racing and the Trofeo de Campeones against Platense. While several rumors placed Domínguez out of the 'León' due to his differences with the management, the truth is that both parties resolved the conflicts and ended up extending their cycle for two more years. With several titles to dispute such as the Supercopa Argentina, Supercopa Internacional, and Recopa de Campeones, and with many others already won: Copa Argentina 2023, Copa de la Liga 2024, and Trofeo de Campeones 2024, in addition to those already mentioned, the former Huracán, Colón, and Independiente coach will seek to continue writing the history of Estudiantes. After the renewal, Domínguez will begin the preseason with the Platense squad and will have to reinforce the team for 2026, considering the possible departures of Santiago Ascacibar and Cristian Medina, two key pieces in his system, with the intention of competing on all fronts: the Professional League, Copa Argentina, and Copa Libertadores.
